During these stressful times you don’t need to be hard on yourself and hold yourself up to unrealistic standards.  If your friends are struggling, I am sure you are saying kind words to them and telling them not to be so hard on themselves.  Why is that so difficult for us to do that with ourselves?  Self-compassion has been proven to correlate with less anxiety/depression and overall life satisfaction.  Here are a few ways you can begin to learn self-compassion:

  1. Comfort your body in some way
  2. Practice being mindful
  3. Give yourself encouragement and be kind to yourself
  4. Practice forgiveness
  5. Express gratitude without being selfless
  6. Remember that you are not alone in your struggles
