Lindsay Speirs

I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Windsor in 2001.  After graduation, I worked in a private psychology office with individuals experiencing a variety of mental health concerns.  In working with this population of people, I noticed that many people experiencing mental health issues also had concerns with addiction. This led to my next interest and I obtained an Addictions Careworker Diploma from McMaster University in 2010. Naturally for me, I decided to expand my knowledge further and obtained by Masters of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2015.  During my all of my education, I continued working within the addictions and mental health field in a variety of settings. Programs I have worked in include mental health crisis counselling, addiction outpatient, addictions residential, harm reduction, and detox.  Within many of these programs, I worked within a management capacity and supported other social workers and psychotherapists in their practices.  However, I continued to work with clients directly on an individual and group basis.

Throughout my entire life, I have always had a passion for helping other people in one way or another and this ultimately led me towards working within the helping field. To date, I have 25 years experience in working within this field and with all of this experience, I can confidently say that this is what I was meant to do.
