Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and for happy couples, this day can be full of fun and excitement.  However, for many people that spend this day alone, it can emphasize feelings of loneliness.  Loneliness can be one of the most unpleasant feelings which can eventually lead into unhealthy coping (i.e. depression, substance use, unhealthy partner choices).  If you are feeling lonely, keep these tips in mind…

  1. Remember that it is normal to feel lonely at times
  2. Make plans for the times that you know you will feel lonely
  3. Challenge your negative thoughts about loneliness
  4. Focus on doing kind things for yourself
  5. Volunteer somewhere where you will meet new people
  6. Consider a pet companion

If you need some help with your feelings of loneliness or just need a supportive ear, please book an appointment for support. I am accepting new clients – please feel free to contact me to inquire about services.
